When we signed up for Kerry's classes it was mostly because
we were about to become parents and once the excitement began to
wear off the terrible realisation set in! We'd seen plenty of women
giving birth at Holby city (but we thought that might not be a totally
realistic interpretation). We knew some friends who were parents
(but they made it look easy and lived too far away to ask). We didn't
know anyone else in the area that was going through the same thing.
So what we wanted was some basic guidance, some information on what
was going to happen and what choices we had, and some friends! (How
sad do we sound?) Although the birth didn't go according to plan at
least we knew what to ask and when. We knew when to say no to the
eager medical team and when to ask them to hang on a minute. We know
more people in Woking than we ever did before and we're really enjoying
being parents. We think that's recommendation enough!
...the bit about enjoying being parents obviously excludes the sleep
deprivation between the hours of midnight and 4am!

Rui and I expected to get some practical knowledge
about pregnancy and labour from Kerry's class. What we
got out of it goes far beyond our expectation. We
built confidence, friendship, and better understanding of a great culture... |

Babies.... pregnancy .... like I was supposed to know anything
about that! The offer of a class we could both go to and maybe become a little more prepared than we were, seemed like such a
good idea, and someone at work had recommended NCT Classes to Deb,
so we joined and signed up for the classes.
Then we met Kerry, and the best thing she said, was in that first
class, 'No I don't do horror movies....' Phew, or I would have
been off at the pub for every Wednesday since then.
I'm glad I didn't though....
I learnt what to expect if it all went well, and some of what
could have gone wrong, and how to handle the medical staff. That and being impressed by how Kerry managed a disparate group
of couples and their sometimes bizzare questions and answers to
her questions, oh yes, not forgetting the custard creams......
In summary I'd recommend them to anyone about to have their first
baby, but don't forget, whatever anyone tells you, baby's didn't
read the text book! |
